What is a smart city?
And what does that mean for Halle-Neustadt?
A smart city is a city that aims to improve people’s lives. To do this, we use digital technology. The goal is to make everyday life easier and more sustainable for everyone.
Halle (Saale) is also on its way to becoming a smart city. The city is receiving funding from the federal government for this initiative. The funding program is called “Smart Cities Model Projects.”
Part of Smart City Halle is Smart HaNeu. This is an initiative for Halle-Neustadt. Here, people can learn how to use digital devices and media. It also aims to provide everyone with access to the internet and knowledge.
Smart City Halle offers various programs in Neustadt:
- An education center has been set up in Passage 13. Courses are offered here—for example, on computers, video editing, or 3D printing.
- The “Dr. Data” project provides assistance with questions about smartphones and tablets—for example, at the Pusteblume multigenerational house or at the Neustadt Centrum.
- The Freiraumgalerie combines art with technology and designs public spaces. The goal is to make the neighborhood more attractive and modern.
- Another offering is this “Quartiersplattform.” It’s a new website for Halle-Neustadt. Here, you can find information and connect with other people. “Unser HaNeu” is being developed by AWO SPI in collaboration with other partners.
So what does this mean for you?
On “Unser HaNeu,” you can see what’s happening in the neighborhood. You’ll find events, places, people and initiatives from the neighborhood. At the same time, you can get involved yourself. You can contribute your own ideas, share events or present projects.
