Gerhard Lichtenfeld was born in 1921 in Halle (Saale) and died there in 1978.
He was a German sculptor and professor in the German Democratic Republic (GDR).
He studied sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein School of Art and later worked there as a teacher.
He worked mainly with bronze and produced many of his works himself.
In 1974, he received an important state award in the GDR.
