Veit Stoß was born around 1447 and died in 1533 in Nuremberg.
He was an important German sculptor of the Late Gothic period.
His works are characterized by strong expressiveness and great craftsmanship.
Stoß worked for a long time in Kraków and later in Nuremberg.
One of his most famous works is the great altar in St. Mary’s Church in Kraków.
Another famous work is the “Angelic Salutation.”
He led a large workshop with numerous students.
